QUESTIONS FOR THIS WEEK
(READ BEFORE YOU ARRIVE)

  • What are some things that scare you that you are OK sharing with the rest of the group?
  • Read Psalm 139:1-4 & 23.  What do we learn about God in these verses?  What do we learn about ourselves?
  • Searching ourselves can be scary!  But, after the first two parts of this series, doing the homework from last week’s group, and maybe diving into the Freeway workbook, what did you learn about yourself?  What are some things you want to change?
  • These changes will require wisdom, courage and faith. We first need wisdom to face our past. “Your past is not your past if it is still impacting your present.” How have you seen that in your life?
  • What is the wise thing to do in order to not transfer this pain from your past, into your future?
  • We also need courage to deal with our present. Answer the question from Sunday honestly: Do you really want to change? Or do you just want the appearance you’re trying to change?
  • What would truly desiring change require of you?
  • Finally, we need faith to believe that healing is possible. What are some lies you have believed that have kept you from healing?
  • How has God demonstrated that He is bigger than your history and more concerned with your destiny?  Now, read Romans 8:31-39
  • What are some things we can do this week to avoid reaching for our medicators / idols once we begin to “open our eyes?”

HOMEWORK

  • Memorize 1 John 4:18.
  • This week, when you feel negative emotions creeping in, try to identify what happening around you. See if you can identify some triggers. Write them down.
  • Do something you are scared to do! (Difficult phone call, apologize, finally ask for help…)
