Would you rather be rich, beautiful, powerful, famous or loved? (Be honest)

Sometimes we get what we want, but it’s not what we need. Sometimes we chase a dream that turns out to be meaningless. Have you ever had this happen?  How did you feel inside?

Why do you think Jesus cares more about our inner self (mind, will & emotions) than He does our outer self (behavior)?

What does that tell us about what God desires for us?

We said if the greatest possible blessing is to know God, then the greatest obstacle to that is worshiping false gods. What are some of the false gods we chase?  What does the Bible call that?

How did we define idolatry?

In what ways do you do that in your life? HINT: If you are not sure, ask yourself these questions. 1. Am I willing to sin to get it? 2. Am I willing to sin if I think I am going to lose it?

Why does it matter if we identify our idols?

Read Matthew 11:28-30  What is Jesus invitation in these passages?

It is not enough to simply relinquish an idol (a lie). You have to replace it (truth). What are some things you could replace your idols with?
